Zeppelin to tour without Plant

What’s Led Zeppelin without Robert Plant? This is kind of the opposite of “Would a rose by any other name smell as sweet?” How can a band that has such a long history and great following tour under the same name when its composition has changed? Sure, the Doors did it, most indie rock bands do it now, but this is Zeppelin. Regardless of your level of adoration for the prolific rockers - I’d place my fanship at number seven on a scale of one to 10 - it’s got to be rather shocking that the great and almighty Zep could play without Plant. Granted, the band played its reunion show sans Bonham, but it’s not as though this could be helped. Still, what’s Plant’s deal? The rumor is that he’s the one calling the shots in this decision. So, would a Led Zeppelin with any other singer sound as sweet? You tell me.

This is bullshit! Okay, so no offense to any John Paul purists, but fuck, he is the only guy in that entire band where substituting a different person in wouldn’t alter the band’s sound too much. Bonham (RIP) has a really characteristic style of drumming that I don’t think can be emulated by no body but bonzo in his beer-buzzed brute power. Similarly, you got Jimmy Page who is pretty much a Jimi Hendrix in his guitar sorcery, and doubtless instrumental in the fabric of every Led Zep cut. But shit no Plant!? That’s like no Kiedis! But to answer your question there is no way Led Zep can be worth even being together if not held by the essential pin that is Plant (or Page if the circumstances were different). They should just tell Plant to stop being a fucking pussy, and also that he needs to stop being a bitch about his fear to taint the Led Zep legacy (if that’s what it is but who knows). Above all else I think we can blame this on Alison Krause, or/plus all the people who must have given Plant the impression that this current Starbucks-soccer-mom-friendly gig doesn’t suck but is better than Led Zep.
