Obama may keep Bush tax cuts

Well, at least until they expire in 2011. Apparently the pledge to repeal the tax cuts for the richest Americans is being re-considered in light of Obama’s ambitious economic stimulus plan. William Daley, an Obama economics adviser, has discussed the plan as “more likely than not.” Disappointing. If Obama wants to postpone rescinding the Bush tax cuts, then perhaps a year delay would be understandable. However, giving the rich such a good deal will only hinder the government’s mandate to pursue an ambitious plan on health care, as well as severely restrain its less popular but equally important tasks to address infrastructure and education.

since when were the rich getting such a good deal? do you want to take a few points off your gpa and lend it to students who are struggling? same principle my man

Is this really happening??!!! Mr. O’s not gonna repeal tax cuts for the rich? It’s the only reason I voted for him! We already knew we were gonna get shafted with “comprehensive” immigration reform heh, but that was gonna happen anyway if McCain got in. And Obama’s Homeland Security czar isn’t gonna complete the border fence (why am I not surprised), and she’s all for doling out government benefits to illegal aliens and, of course, the 30M who snuck into our country won’t be deported—but they should be. What a bunch of crap! :(

not the same principle, since gpa is limited to a standardized pocket of four points, whereas wealth is (theoretically) limitless. “a few points” means a great deal when it means half, but a few thousand dollars, even millions, are mincemeat to the super-rich, who have been collecting points without a salary cap since time immemorial.

the true disappointment is not who or who does not get tax cuts, but that a president-elect who ran on the principle of distancing america from its present administration immediately concedes his plan to change the country’s course. what is a democracy, when the campaign bears no relation to the government? if obama was not going to rescind the bush tax cuts, if he will not end the war, if he does not create dynamic change in political culture (many of his prospective appointees belong to the same policy-making entrenchment who have ruled in the past 8-16 years), why were americans not better off with mccain?

That is not a valid comparison and you know it.

Not at all the same principle… everyone starts out at college with the same GPA (0.0) and works their way from their. In real life, some people are born with more money and opportunity than others. That would be like some people starting college with a 3.5 while others start with a 1.5. If that were the case, I’d gladly give some of my GPA to students who were struggling.
