In an unexpected turn Monday, Lt. Gov. Barbara Lawton announced she would not run for governor in 2010.
Lawton had been pegged as one of the frontrunners for the 2010 Democratic gubernatorial nomination, partially because she was the only candidate to announce a run.
The announcement came in an e-mail message to Lawton campaign supporters Monday morning. While Lawton did not give specific reasons for her decision, she indicated in the statement that personal issues played a role.
“My deep commitment to our state is second only to my commitment to my family,” Lawton said in a statement. ”For very personal reasons, I will not pursue the Democratic nomination for governor in 2010.”

Personal issues my ass. She got a call from Obama and he told her not to run. The White House wants Barrett in office and they are just clearing the way for that to happen.

You recall Barrett took on a guy with a pipe? I think he can handle Walker.
