A University of Wisconsin heart surgeon shot and killed himself Friday after trying to murder his wife, police say.
Hani Hennein was pronounced dead by police in Elmhurst, Ill., after responding to a call shortly after 7 a.m. Friday. His estranged wife, Julia Hennein, underwent surgery at Loyola University Hospital in Maywood, Ill. She is alive there, but no new information is available about her condition.
Two of the couple’s four children were home at the time of the shooting, but police said they were not harmed.
The Chicago Tribune reported that the husband was arrested and charged with domestic battery May 29 for attacking a different family member.
Hennein was a professor with the UW School of Medicine and Public Health, where he specialized in pediatric cardiothoracic surgery, according to the UW Hospitals website.

it is a TRAGEDY that he had 4 different jobs at 4 different institutions and never lasted because of his DIFFICULT personalty . WHY couldnt any of these institutions get him the psychological help he needed ??? he brought his pathology to work everyday and NO ONE had the courage to HELP him get help. they only cared about making money and not about putting an end to ABUSIVE behavior that it so rampant in medicine ! and now look at the repercussions for his family … SHAME ON YOU HOSPITALS !

I agree, instutions hide and cover-up alot to keep from looking bad. BAd press might mean less revenue! Many years ago, alot of people knew he was unstable. I dont understand it. People made excuses for him.
I pray for his family. Lets not forget, alot of households have abusers in them. Let this be a lesson to help a friend!

Really?!?!? So it’s the hospitals’ faults for NOT finding him help?? The fact that he was crazy at work and home makes it HIS responsibility to get help

how do you know the hospital didn’t try to find him help?

“brought his pathology to work everyday” How do you know this? If you witnessed this, I assume it wasn’t at every place he had been (or you too would have been at 4 places in 4 years). If you witnessed it at all, and did nothing either, aren’t you just as guilty as the hospitals would be?

His sister is a nurse and knew he was depressed but not to this extent. She is killing herself with guilt. I have suffered from depression a long time but you could not tell when I am at work. A difficult personality at work does not always equal a difficult life. I am sure his wife needed to take care of herself and her children and did not see this coming.
