Non-cancellation of classes ‘outright flabbergasting’

I cannot comprehend the events that have occurred on the East coast. But I also cannot believe the audacity, blatant disrespect and disregard that UW demonstrated Tuesday by refusing to cancel classes.

Not only was it irresponsible, it was outright flabbergasting. By not canceling classes as the United States was brutally attacked, UW showed the student body what was more important - a day of petty lectures.

I personally took it upon myself to watch the saga unfold and not attend class. For me, being a citizen is far more important than being a student. I am extremely proud to be a student here and have the opportunity to better myself, but for the first time ever I was ashamed to attend this university.

How can an institution of this magnitude be so self-centered that it ignores the worst attack on U.S. soil ever? After reports that fellow Big Ten universities cancelled their classes, I actually thought about transferring.

Hey Wiley, thanks for the consoling e-mail.
