Enough said.

That was the title of our last editorial before the Associated Students of Madison voted to approve this year’s $1.3 million student fee increase.

We naively assumed the startling expansion of student fees would persuade ASM to at least trim the budget. We thought ASM would best serve their constituents — students — by attempting to limit a $28 increase for next year. We hoped ASM would comprehend the Pandora’s Box that would be opened by rubber stamping this historic budget.

It’s not as if there wasn’t anything to cut. All year we have offered advice to the Student Services Finance Committee, pointing out largesse that could be trimmed without affecting the service offered by any number of student groups.

But ASM not only failed to make a single change, they only discussed two of the 23 proposed budgets! Thursday night’s vote was not a reasoned endorsement of massive budget increases. Rather, it was a complete abdication of responsibility, for which ASM should be held responsible.

Listed below are the members of ASM who not only failed to trim this massive budget, but declined to even debate it fully. We encourage every student to make their $28 well-spent — let ASM know how you feel.
