Duerst names new assistant: Former Kalamazoo College star Nick Carlin-Voigt will join the UW women's soccer team as an assistant coach, head coach Dean Duerst announced last week. At Kalamazoo College, Carlin-Voigt was the goaltender for a Hornets squad that won three Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) championships. The star goalkeeper was named Kalamazoo's top male athlete in his senior season. "Nick will make an incredible addition to the current staff," Duerst said in a release. Nick had a very successful academic and athletic career and Carrie Barker and I are very eager to begin working with him."
After graduating from Kalamazoo, Carlin-Voigt trained at the IMG Soccer Academy in Florida and with Cruz Azul Oaxaca in Mexico. He then returned to his alma mater in 2004 as an assistant coach for the men's soccer team. He has also coached goalkeepers at Western Michigan.
