Kevin Reilly is the curren UW System President. Reilly came to Wisconsin from the State University of New York System, where he served as associate provost for academic programs and secretary for the Board of Trustees. Reilly worked for four years as UW-Extension chancellor and vice chancellor as well as provost. Reilly attended Notre Dame for his undergraduate degree and then earned his M.A and Ph.D at the University of Minnesota.
While serving for UW-Extension, Reilly took on various leadership roles, including managing programs in continuing education, cooperative extension, distance education, small business development, as well at Wisconsin Public Radio and Wisconsin Public Television. Reilly also worked on several steering committees for the UW System's four statewide Wisconsin Economic Summits. Additionally, Reilly helped found the UW System Federal Relation Council.
On July 26, 2004, UW System Regent Selection committee recommended Reilly for the UW System President position. Reilly's term as UW System President began in September 2004.[1]

Accomplishments as UW System President

- Increasing BA degree holders to become nationally competitive
- Developing the strengths of each UW campus

- Specifically working to support the biomedical and biopharmaceutical programs at UW
In August 2008, Reilly recommended the system to ask for $37.5 million in tax money and $13.4 million in student fees from the legislature and Gov. Jim Doyle in order to continue support for the Growth Agenda through 2011.[2]
